Turkish Technic’s Esenboğa Hangar Project was initiated at the beginning of 2008 with the start of design services for an aircraft maintenance hangar to be built at Ankara Esenboğa Airport. The hangar will be Turkish Technic’s first hangar outside of Istanbul.
The new hangar will be built on a 9,600 m2 plot on the site of Esenboğa Airport’s old International and VIP terminal buildings, which were demolished in the summer of 2008. Turkish Technic’s Esenboğa Hangar will offer line maintenance and “C” check services to narrow-body planes. The hangar will be 103.5 m wide, 54.5 m deep and 24 m high and will have a clear door height 14 m. The structural system will be comprised of a steel roof, reinforced concrete shear wall-column and column-beam frame elements. The hangar will be able to house up to 4 planes at the same time on an unobstructed floor area of 5,500 m2.
The hangar will take advantage of natural lighting from all faces of the building. A 1,300 m2 single-storey annex with facilities including shops, offices and other essential spaces will support hangar activities. Other constructed facilities will include a 1,000 m3 concrete fire water tank, pump house and electrical equipment building. Construction will begin in September 2008 and the hangar is planned to be in service in the first quarter of 2009.
