The Pratt & Whitney Turkish Technic Aircraft Engine Maintenance Center, LLP, or Turkish Engine Center, is being established to provide engine maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services to customers located in Turkey, surrounding regions and worldwide.  The facility is planned to be comprised of approximately 25,000 sq. meters (269,000 sq. feet) located at the Sabiha Gokcen International Airport in the Anatolian peninsula, approximately 70 km east of Turkish Technic’s existing engine shop at Istanbul’s Ataturk International Airport.  Once fully operational, the center is expected to overhaul up to 200 engines per year and will employ many of Turkish Technic’s experienced staff.  The Turkish Engine Center will overhaul CFM56–3, –5B, –5C and –7B and V2500–A5 engines.  The facility’s anticipated extensive part repair capability will help reduce engine overhaul costs and turnaround times. Adherence to the highest level of United Technologies Corporation’s Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) operating system will ensure quality and customer satisfaction.

The center has been designed to meet the Gold standards of the United States Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Rating System, with planned provisions to meet Platinum standards.  The facility is planned to be built with up to 20 percent recycled material and use renewable energy sources for a portion of its energy load.  Additionally, overall water use on the site is anticipated to be reduced by 40 percent compared with conventional facility designs.

It is expected that the facility will start operations  within the last  quarter of 2009.

The Pratt & Whitney Turkish Technic Aircraft Engine Maintenance Center, LLP, or Turkish Engine Center, is registered on 10th of October, 2008 and Daniel Tennant is appointed as the General Manager of the company.
